OUR SCHOLARSHIPS - PROMOTING EDUCATION

2016 Scholarships

The Industrial Fabrics Foundation (IFF) awards several scholarships each year to students enrolled in accredited colleges, universities or technical schools. The applications are available each January with the submission deadline in June for the use in the following school year. Scholarships are paid directly to the students' schools for fall semester tuition. The IFF Board of Directors holds responsibility for application review and scholarship awards.

Applications due June 10, 2016

Textile Industry Engineering Scholarship - $5,000 (one available)
This scholarship award pays for tuition expenses at an accredited college, university, or technical school. Applicants must be enrolled in the below program of study:

  • Chemical Engineering/Material Science Majors
  • Textile Sciences and Engineering
  • Fiber Science
  • Civil Engineering with Geosynthetic Interest
  • Any textile engineering related program

A scholarship recipient is selected on the basis of academic achievement, community service, and interest in a future career in the specialty fabrics industry.

Textile Industry Product Design Scholarship - $5,000 (one available)
This scholarship award pays for tuition expenses at an accredited college, university, or technical school. Applicants must be enrolled in the below program of study:

  • Industrial Design
  • Product Development/Soft Good Design
  • Functional Apparel Design
  • Any textile end-product related program

A scholarship recipient is selected on the basis of academic achievement, community service, and interest in a future career in the specialty fabrics industry.

Textile Industry Architectural Design Scholarship - $5,000 (one available)
This scholarship award pays for tuition expenses at an accredited college or university architect or design program. Applicants must be enrolled in the below program of study:

  • Architecture
  • Design
  • Any textile building application related program

The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, community service and interest in a future career in the specialty fabrics industry.

Don Williams Scholarship - $5,000 (one available)
This scholarship award pays for tuition expenses at an accredited college, university, or technical school. Applicants must be enrolled in the below program of study:

  • Any textile related program

Entry Requirments

Essay - (500-1000 words)

  • Explaining interest in industrial fabrics industry
  • Work goals
  • Other information you would like the committee to know

Design/Engineering Sample Project:

  • Project description (500 word minimum)
  • 2-5 images/visuals
  • Title
  • Teammates
  • Date Completed

Letters of Recommendation

  • Required: Professor/teacher
  • Recommended if applicable: IFAI Member
    *One letter of recommendation is required from a professor/teacher. A second letter is optional from an IFAI Member

Don Williams IFF Scholarship - Sarah Haas, Philadelphia University
    - Recipient Sarah Haas is a student at Philadelphia University in Philadelphia, Pa. Haas is pursuing a master's of science degree in textile sciences and engineering. The scholarship if funded by IFF

Fabric Graphics Association (FGA) Scholarship - Kathryn White, University of Louisville
    - Recipient Kathryn White is a student at the University of Louisville, Ky. White is pursuing an undergraduate degree in graphic design and visual communication. The scholarship is funded by FGA, a division of IFAI.

Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) Member Scholarship - Laura Teter, Walsh University
   - Recipient Laura Teter is a student at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Teter is employed by IFAI member company Miller Weldmaster Corp. The scholarship is funded by GMA, a division of IFAI.

IFAI Member Scholarship - Melina Connor, Miami Dade College
    - Recipient Melina Connor is a student at Miami Dade College in Miami, Fla. Connor is currently employed by IFAI member Trivantage LLC, and is pursuing a degree in supervision and management. The scholarship is funded by IFAI.

Narrow Fabrics Institute (NFI) Scholarship - Amatullah Foushee, Fashion Institute of Technology
   - Recipient Amatullah Foushee is a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, N.Y. Foushee is pursuing a degree in textile development and marketing. The scholarship is funded by NFI, a division of IFAI.
